Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has returned, and it kicks off with a delightful nod to the Big Bang Theory as Georgie, played by Montana Jordan, takes over Jim's tire shop, now in partnership with mechanic Ruben (portrayed by Jessie Prez).
As the duo celebrates their first earnings without Jim's guidance, they brainstorm ideas for the shop's future. Georgie envisions a bold transformation, including a potential rebranding to Dr. Tire—a name that Big Bang Theory fans will recognize as part of Georgie's tire shop franchise in the future.
However, don't expect this name change to happen anytime soon. Executive producer Steve Holland clarifies, "The Dr. Tire reference in the premiere was merely a fun Easter egg for those in the know. The name won't change just yet; it serves to hint at Georgie's ambitious plans that are set to unfold."
But will Georgie's aspirations clash with Ruben's ideas? As Jordan explains, "In business, you often experience ups and downs. That's just the nature of it. There will be plenty of back-and-forth, but collaborating with Jessie this season has been a real pleasure." Holland adds, "Their growth will be gradual, and that's part of the enjoyment of the journey."
Georgie believes he is destined to become Dr. Tire, while Ruben brings his own perspectives to the table. To resolve their differences, they decide on a foot race as a tie-breaker. Despite suffering from blisters after running in cowboy boots, Jordan humorously notes, "I wear boots almost every day, so I'm used to it. I didn’t get blisters, but I will say Ruben plays dirty when it comes to racing!"
Jordan relishes the opportunity to film the race outdoors, away from the usual soundstages. "Being from Texas, I love the outdoors and nature. It's refreshing to get outside. On Young Sheldon, we had the chance to film on location, which was a great experience," he reminisces.
As Georgie and Ruben navigate their evolving partnership, father-in-law Jim, who is adjusting to retirement, offers guidance. Jordan reflects, "Jim and Georgie are at very different stages in their lives, yet they share similar challenges at home, trying to avoid conflict."
This season, Georgie is bonding with Jim over a few beers, which he believes is beneficial for their relationship, especially as they work together on a Mustang. "Jim has stepped up as a father figure, which is great for Georgie," Jordan hints about their developing dynamic.
But what about Georgie and Mandy, played by Emily Osment? As the season unfolds, the question of their relationship's stability looms large. While the premiere shows them in a good place, Mandy's work with her ex at the news station raises concerns.
Jordan suggests, "Their relationship is likely to be rocky more often than not. With so many differing opinions, especially as young parents, it complicates things. Tension from Mandy's parents can create a domino effect on their relationship, but they always manage to work things out in the end."
